Web Design

Graphic Design

Graphic Design is an integral part of print media. Graphic design is commonly cited as visual communications or communication designs. The term graphic design is often described as the art of creating visual illustration of ideas or messages using an appropriate mix of symbols and world.

Resolution

Resolution defines the quality of an image or picture. It’s usually measured in terms of pixels. Web designing works on screen resolution whereas graphic designing works on image resolution. Screens are generally 72 dpi, that means the image has 72 pixels or dots per square inch. As against it, print is typically 300 dpi, i.e, 300 dots per square inch.

Color Modes

Color forms a vital component of designing, usually utilized to create ideas, communicate messages,express feelings or specific areas of interest. A correct mixture of color plays a crucial role in changing the perspective of the audience. Web designers work mainly on the RGB color mode whereas majority of the print designers work on the CMYK color mode. Here,

RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue.

CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key (black).

File Formats

GIF and JPEG are the two formats for image files widely used by web designers for web content and is supported by all web browsers. GIF is the descriptor for Graphic Interchange Format and JPEG is the descriptor for Joint Photographers Experts Group.

PDF and EPS are two formats mostly used by the graphic designers for the photographs and picture to be printed. PDF stands for Portable Document Format and EPS stands for Encapsulated PostScript.

Fonts

Selecting a font for web could be a cumbersome process as against for graphic or print. Being a print media, graphic designers secure about the display of their font commanded throughout the designing process. However, web designers cannot secure about the display of their fonts properly as it entirely depends on the net browsers being used. Which means one’s audience can able to see the desired font provided that it’s installed or get downloaded on their computers. Thus so as to avoid such situation it’s well recommended that the web designers should make use of the common fonts such as Arial Black, Times New Roman ,Verdana, etc…
