Canvas Painting Classes and Special Art Test at ADMEC

One can’t become a creative designer by luck or chance; they need proper training and consistent effort. It is important to approach every task creatively, whether you are sketching a logo or making a digital layout on a design application. This is what ADMEC focuses on.

At ADMEC, we offer a creativity-rich environment where students nurture the true artist within themselves. Our course curricula are designed with diverse topics that encourage students not to copy others’ ideas but to think innovatively and independently.

Canvas painting sessions are among the most impactful parts of our curriculum. Why? It is because they let students begin to think creatively. These sessions play a big role in boosting students’ creative thinking and designing. We organize them twice a year for all students enrolled in designing courses like multimedia design, advertising, animation, graphic design, UI UX, textile design, digital painting, etc.

We see a big change in the artistic vision of students after these sessions. It’s like students start breathing artistry in our learning environment. That is our main mission.

Recently, we organized the first phase of the Canvas Painting classes of 2025 and also conducted a special art test at the centre. These were led by our commercial art and visual grammar training mentors, Promila Mam and Sahil Sir. This blog gives a close look at some of its highlights. So, let’s start.

The beginning of this creative training phase was the Special Workshop on the title ”Let’s Make Canvas Art”. This workshop was a practical presentation on making a live canvas. It helped students understand how exactly they should approach painting on it. Our art faculty, Promila mam, explained the entire process from scratch to the students. She guided learners on perfect color selection, managing contrast, and working on light and shadow areas to add depth to artwork. Simultaneously, another art expert, Sahil Sir, performed a live canvas painting. He drew a beautiful portrait of sunset, having a beautiful temple and greenery all around.

We can say that it was a perfect combo of explanation and presentation.

A Practice Session on Canvas for Students

We saw all students existed to start making their very first canvas. All came on time for the practice session with smiles on their faces.

Our art mentors arrived on time for the session and guided all students to take out the required materials from their art kits that they got from the institute.

Many tasks or levels were introduced to students in the previous workshop. The same was revised first to give a proper outline or work path to students. Then particular theme was given to each student on which they had to make the canvas. Means, students were not asked to find their own theme as it was a practice session. So all followed the theme or ideas given by the instructors.

Our art faculty guided individual students to help them learn how to add proper brush strokes, mix colors with water, blend colors on canvas, etc.

The overall duration of this practice session was 3 hours. It was fruitful for all students as they tried everything practically on a real canva. But their paintings were not completed on the same day. And we already planned for it. Students were then asked to spend 1 hour daily on their canvas art under the supervision of their mentors.

It took around a week to add the final touch to the painting for all students. But they all worked very hard and presented an array of amazing art.

The final day arrived very soon in the form of an art test for all of our young artists. That was a chance for the students to showcase the skills that they learnt during the practice sessions. No one was worried about it, as they had already experienced making art before. All were super excited to start.

Since it was a test, there were some rules and conditions:

  • The total duration of the test was 3 hours means all students were required to complete their arts within this given time frame.
  • Next, they had to work on a unique theme without taking help from their mentors.
  • They were free to select any medium of colors from oil, poster, to acrylic.
  • We gave freedom to all students to explore some websites like Pinterest, Dribble, and Behance to find out some nice ideas. They got 30 minutes for the same.

Each student painted their canvas independently and confidently.
