During my graphic design course in Delhi, I got the topic of Finance from Ravi Sir to plan the color scheme for it.
Topic name – Finance
Finance means commerce, business, investment, banking, accounting, money.
What is Finance?
Finance is a field that deals with the allocation of assets and liabilities over time under conditions of certainty and uncertainty. Finance can also be defined as the science of money management. A key point in finance is the time value of money, which states that the purchasing power of one unit of currency can vary over time. Finance aims to price assets based on their risk level and their expected rate of return. Finance can be broken into three different sub-categories: public finance, corporate finance and personal finance.
Finance companies for e.g. :- Banks (SBI, IDBI, ICICI), insurance companies (LIC), Business Companies (Reliance, Samsung) or any other investment company.
Deciding the color scheme for this topic
As per my experience, you should decide on the main color very first. This color would represent the entire personality or image of the brand. If you are aware of color meanings and their indications then I am sure it will be very easy for you.
Deciding the main color first
As more than 90% of brands either use 1 color or 2 colors as per a recent survey so let us decide few color options for the finance company first.
How to decide the Base Colors
I have decided the blue, grey, and black colors to be used in combination as primary basic colors. After it, we will decide on companion colors using color schemes knowledge that I learnt in this institute.
Blue – Blue color shows trust, peace, loyalty, and stability.
RGB Value – R= 17 G= 102 B= 121 | Color code = #1166dd
Gray – Gray color shows quietness and reservedness
RGB Value – R= 129 G= 137 B= 145 | Color code = #818991
Black – Black color shows seriousness, boldness, power and classic look.
RGB Value – R= 0 G= 0 B= 0 | Color code = #000000
Suggested color schemes for this topic
After deciding the base color for the brand now its time to decide the color schemes. Color schemes help you in deciding the colors combination to use in your design to bring the interest and mood in the design of readers.
Some of the color schemes that I decided are given below:
1. Monochromatic –
Monochromatic color scheme is base of a single hue and extended using its shades, tones and tints. Tints are achieved by adding white and shades and tones are achieved by adding a darker color, gray or black in the main color. Monochromatic color scheme provides opportunities in art and visual communications design as they allow for a greater range of contrasting tones that can be used to attract attention, create focus and support legibility.
Followings are the colors that can be used to imply Monochromatic color scheme in your design.

2. Analogous – Analogous colorsare groups of three colors that are next to each other on the color wheel, with one being the dominant color, which tends to be a primary and secondary either side of the color.
Please see the following figure for the exact idea.
I created and applied the suggested color schemes myself in few designs to show you the exact demo of my color decisions. There might be some other methods also to make color decisions but I think it is the most popular and practical method because it doesn’t evolve so much of technical machinery to bring your color scheme in front of you.
