Hi, I am an alumnus of ADMEC Multimedia Institute and my name is Aarti. Here I am explaining my experience and journey from a beginner to a pro graphic designer. I believe this true story will help someone thinking of joining the billion industry of graphic design.
I will be writing my journey with some facts and pictures. I hope this will help you connect with me throughout the write-up.

Graphic Design Student Journey at ADMEC
Discovering My Passion for Design
I still feel like my journey in the world of design was unexpected. In school I liked to do creative things and artwork. I used to love to participate in various art & design competitions. From decorating the pin boards of my classroom to the rangoli competition, I loved to do that all.
I occasionally wrote poetry in my childhood too. Maybe that habit of mine created a sense of imagination in me.
When I was in high school, I remember how my teachers used to give me extra marks on my decorative file covers. They used to say “tum bhaut creative ho Aarti”.
You know, all that was natural and not planned. My inclination towards doing things creativity was the reason behind that. Even till that point, I didn’t think about to be a graphic designer. May be that was the beginning to discover my passion for design.
Early Inspirations and Influences
Continuing to my school I went for my graduation and took history honors. I learned many new things about the human culture from ancient to modern times.
I got to know about modern art and artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Paul Rand and many more at that stage. I came to know that what is real art at the time of my graduation journey. Then covid pandemic hit the world. At that point I decided to get a new skill for a good career. So, here I choose graphic designing as my passion and career also.
All this knowledge made me think about one thing. It was that I need a design institute which focuses not only on designing software but on creative thinking also. And I found ADMEC is the best place for me. Why? Because it has a department of art where Promila madam and Sahil sir teach. Promila ma’am is a wonderful teacher with her more than 20 years of experience. Sahil sir is working as an assistant art faculty with his degree in BFA.
My Learning Experience at ADMEC Multimedia Institute in Delhi
Why I Chose ADMEC Multimedia?
It was very crucial to select the best graphic design institute for me. I came across many institutions in Rohini, Delhi and took demo too.
At last, I visited ADMEC and enrolled for the course named Graphic Design Master. It is an 8-months long diploma program in graphic designing. This program covers all the tools and design topics in short duration.
The institute caught my attention as the best place to learn graphic design for a number of reasons:
- The first thing that I noticed was the management and atmosphere of the institute where I’m going to learn. They have a dedicated team of graphic design teachers, excellent management, and an environment where one can learn and grow.
- Secondly, the most attractive thing is teaching way with big LED screens and small batches. Due the small batches, faculty managed to focus on each student. Right from the doubt session to the detailed explanation of topics, everything becomes easy to understand in small batches.
- ADMEC solved the most common problem that most student faces especially middle class that is need for laptop. The huge lab system here attracted me a lot where everyone can do practice and clarify their doubts. They have dedicated lab in-charge too who helps student if they need while practicing.
- Next, I found that they believe in interactive teaching because they conduct so many events for students. A few are Start of the Month (SOM), Start of the Year (SOY), design competitions, design quizzes, rangoli design competitions, canvas painting competition, digital painting competition, etc.
- Last but not least their way of encouraging students to learn more through various workshops and special sessions is awesome. They offer special sessions either by guests or senior faculty every week and it convinced me to join this institute.
Skills Acquired in Graphic Designing: From Basics to Mastery
Relevant tools and skills
Skills that I came to learn here were very new to me but I got the guidance from basic to advanced. Tools and skills that are ruling the industry were the main concept here.
I learned software from Adobe Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, and Dimension. All the software is used for different purpose in graphic designing. From raster to vector and from illustrations to masking I got every single knowledge here. The course and its syllabus all meet with industry demand perfectly.
Focus on creative thinking
The plus point of the course is that they are providing commercial art classes to enhance designing sense in students. Their teaching methodology totally depends on making student creative. I think that’s the reason why they have a parallel art department of multiple faculty members. This department convincingly imparting advanced training on design thinking, creative thinking, and free thinking.
The Mentors Who Shaped My Career
After a long wait of almost 2 years, I reached ADMEC for getting some new skills. I was totally confused but got a path here. I’m very great full and will always be to Deepak sir. From knowing nothing about designing to coming at this point all because of him.
These design mentors were always with me
Deepak sir and Nishu sir helped me in every point and cleared all of my doubts. I completed my course (Diploma in Graphic Design) and later started internship with the institute too. I joined internship in its design department where I was handling making their designs and helping students.
Here it was a great opportunity for me to learn many new things.
I started my design journey with many ups and downs but all the faculty members help me a lot.
Know, who made me learned practical execution of ideas
Here I got in touch with Anuradha ma’am. She is a design faculty and handles a team of digital marketing. She guided me and helped me in every task. From explaining the ideas to implementation, she helped me every time.
Learned master skills from the master of designing
Later I got the guidance of our most senior faculty Ravi Sir. He guided me at his best. He taught me on creative thinking, design approach, design strategies and gave various ideas that enhanced my design thinking.

Becoming a Graphic Designer
Building My Portfolio: Projects and Challenges
As in the field of Designing one must work on various projects that will flourish their portfolio from creating a logo to its full design campaign (branding).
As in my design Journey I also created some projects that were very challenging during starting days but my mentors help me in this very much. From how to research for the brand campaign to analysis its full value system. I came to know how to create a brand identity.
In my designing career I also worked on many brand projects for my portfolio. Some of these are: a perfume brand, a travel agency, a playschool and many more. I worked on creating brand names and logos to their full brand identity. I love to design for these beautiful industries.
I’m now going to start a brand identity for myself as a graphic designer.
Breaking Into the Design Industry: First Steps
As now I came into the design industry my first step is started from ADMEC itself as a professional way. Also, ADMEC is where I learned the designing as starting.
It’s very fortunate to me as I’m going to learn many more things from my mentors. Now I on the track to learn how to work as a professional.
Here I learned the industry strategies even without putting my steps out. I learned how to stay in the industry and how to manage the work pressure from industry experts.
These will help to grow my career in the design field.
Key Milestones in My Career
- Education and Training: Choosing the right institution for your designing career is must. The institute is where your base of designing will be ready. As all of us are new to this field so it’s very necessary to choose the right mentorship.
- Design Project: Work on various design theme will definitely help to shape your design sense in design industry. Always take the challenge of creating new design theme for the same brand it will generate a competition to yourself.
- Building a Portfolio: Create your design Portfolio for showcasing your skills and knowledge in design industry.
- Internship Experience: Real world experience is mandatory for the design industry. Securing one will enhance your skills for exposure of professionalism in design.
- Full-Time Job: Securing a full-time job as a designer will boost your portfolio and experiences.
- Updating new skills: Always update your portfolio with new skills. don’t rely only on some tools and software grab industry’s new skill timely.
Transitioning to a Design Instructor
The Decision to Teach: From Designer to Mentor
Now from being a student of graphic designer I became the mentor of graphic design it was very amazed. I decided to share my design journey with new comers in this field. love to share my design strategy and challenges to them that may help in their career.
My Teaching Philosophy: Fostering Creativity
I make ready the student to work on the right path of designing with right strategy. Right strategy is important and every design needs it. It helps to get the new modern trick.
Challenges and Rewards of Teaching Design
In starting I face many problems as teaching was not my agenda. Sometimes I got frustrated with this teaching job as I thought it was not my field. But again, with the guidance of all the faculties I understand the way of how to teach and slowly I got enjoying teaching. It flourished my skills also.
I love the teaching more when I came to know that my students also love and enjoyed the teaching of mine. Some of them are Baisakhi, Laya, Anil, Prem and many more. I love their words that “please ma’am we want to do next software with you.”
These words motivate me more and more.
The Evolving Design Industry
Staying Updated with Trends and Technologies
The graphic design industry is constantly changing, influenced by new technologies, shifting trends, and evolving client needs. One should be up to date to not be an out-of-date designer. New skills and strategy should be opted by one to work under pressure in less time. This will enhance the skills and demand and value of one in the design industry. You can follow some hacks to become good at design for better career.
Balancing Creativity with Industry Demands
Understanding the taste of design of one we have to work accordingly. Every single person has their own designing criteria. We should understand that and balance this with industry demands as creative as we can.
My Role in Shaping the Next Generation of Designers
I think for me, sharing knowledge and our design journey with the newcomers will definitely motivate them. It will help them to shape their design career.
I usually learned to take online classes for graphic design students at ADMEC Multimedia. Even I worked on presenting some short videos related to a particular tool or topic. This method is useful to share tips and tricks to all for understanding.
Looking Forward with a Vision for the Future
Personal Growth as a Designer and Instructor
In future, I will see myself as a brand identity designer and a part time online instructor. Teaching is amazing. I started loving sharing my ideas, I will choose this as my passion.
Goals and Aspirations in Design and Education
As currently I’m a Graphic designer where I create still images and text graphics. I also loved to see motion ads, video editing and App website designs. So my future plans are definitely in grabbing these skills in my hand.
I will definitely again choose video editing courses at ADMEC Multimedia. Really want to learn video editing and motion graphics from Deepak Sir.
