How many of you love to see beautiful paintings or artworks? I’m sure, most of you like them. Paintings and art pieces are best way to present the creative thoughts of an artist. But with the change in the time, another pathway has appeared to show creativity for artists. It is “Digital Art” and “Graphic Design”. Sounds interesting? Join me today to explore the world of digital painting and art. I’ll talk about my experience under ADMEC’s digital art and graphic design classes in Delhi.
Let’s start.
How I started into Digital Paintings and Designing?
Mohamed Rifaah doing painting
Hi there, this is Rifaah. I love to work on sketching, paintings, and currently digital graphics too. I started learning digital painting a few months ago. But I grew up as an artist since my childhood. I practiced painting various types of drawings from landscapes to figurative drawing and also worked on fantasy and realism artworks.
It is so fun to do all artwork on canvas but I found digital graphics going in demand for last few years. I researched on it and found that the art that we draw on physical canvas can easily be made digitally with some extra details. This gave me a spark that even I can do it too. And then I decided to dive into it.
What is Digital Art?
As per my knowledge, a digital art is an artwork which we create using software and graphic tabs. It is very different from traditional mediums like working on canvas and using real brushes and colors. In digital medium, you paint without touching colors and brushes. You can apply any type of texture and experiment freely on your digital screen. Bring as many brushes as you want or create your own too. There is an UNDO option to go back and correct the mistakes if any. Wow, sounds interesting, isn’t it? Even I got astonished to see all this magic. You can’t even imagine all this in traditional painting methods.
Thus, I decided to become a digital artist by learning the required software applications and process of making digital paintings. For that I went to Google and searched for some of the best digital painting programs near me. There I found the name of ADMEC Multimedia Institute. I inquired about the course, and the experts here suggested me to enrol in a 6 months diploma course in digital painting.
ADMEC Multimedia Institute Digital Painting Master Course
I joined my course via online mode from Maldives as it wasn’t possible for me to come India for offline sessions. The course I selected is a master diploma which offers a combo of both graphic designing and digital painting.
My Mentors
My learning journey with ADMEC has been smooth. I got to learn not only how to paint digitally but also a sense of designing. All credits go to instructors here, especially Nishu sir and Anuradha Mam. I’ve learned Photoshop and Illustrator under the guidance of Nishu sir. Anuradha mam taught me Krita, Art Weaver and Sketchbook. They guided me from zero level as I knew nothing in the beginning. But now I’ve got enough confidence to convert my manual art into digital form.
Helpful Curriculum
The training was very helpful especially the curriculum in which basic topics come first with practical explanation. I now have proficiency in almost all the learned tools and techniques. I loved the part of color theory, types of layouts, types of blending, shading methods, etc.
Key Tools and Techniques I learned in My Master Diploma
Below I’m sharing the list of modern painting applications which I learned in the training:
- Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator: I started from Photoshop classes. It is really a fun application for editing images and making matte paintings. Then I was introduced with Adobe Illustrator. Unlike Photoshop, Illustrator is a vector software in which we can make logos, stationery designs, and illustrations as well. Illustrator gave me designing sense as I worked on various practice projects in it.
- Sketchbook: My 2nd application was Sketchbook. It is the easiest application of the entire program. Sketchbook has painting tools, brushes, and color pallets. Even Anuradha mam, shown me how we can create frame animation in it. It was amazing.
- Artweaver: It was my 4th software and I liked it too but not more than Sketchbook 😊.
- Krita: My last tool was Krita. It is very much similar to Photoshop as it has layers and similar panels. Krita is a gift for artists like me as it offers a very large set of brushes. Also, it is free.
Practice Projects
All the instructors, issued dedicated projects for tools I learnt. The duration for the project period was 15 days. These projects are the main key builder of my portfolio as a graphic artist. I would give thumb up to ADMEC for having practice projects in their training. These projects are the need for every beginner.
Closing words
Today, I see myself as a digital graphics artist who have practical expertise on designing as well painting. I am now able to create not only digital art but also graphics for branding and illustrations. This learning journey has transformed my personality and the entire skills-set. It gave me enough confidence to start career into the world of digital art and graphic designing.
