A quiz competition can be described as a form of game or mind sport in which the players (as individuals or in teams) attempt to answer questions correctly. It can consist of subjective type or multiple choice questions or can be a combination of both. In modern times, apart from the industry-relevant course curriculum and best mentors, students’ knowledge should be enhanced and evaluated from time to time by organizing several learning activities. Instead of traditional ways of teaching, new methods of teaching, learning and assessment may stimulate the students desire for learning and once the students mind is set on fire, it will find its way to provide its own fuel.
With this view in mind, ADMEC conducts quiz competitions from time to time for different fields be it web design, animation, post-production and graphic design. Studies have shown that quiz competitions promote active learning and provide motivational impetus. They not only augment meaningful knowledge retention by igniting interest and but also engage theoretical concepts in a real-world perspective. Therefore, game styled quiz competitions based can be an effective tool to increase interest and impetus and enhance learning is established beyond doubt.
Quiz competitions help the teaching faculty to assess the students’ performance and also help in getting feedback about teaching methods, students’ knowledge and help to improve their teaching methodology. Thus, the ultimate goal of promoting self-learning could be achieved.
To continue this development process of skills, ADMEC Multimedia Institute organized its Graphic Design Quiz Competition on 23nd February 2018 at its premises. It was a fun activity where students learned about latest technologies, trends, famous graphic designers, graphic design industry insights, and important concepts, terminologies related to graphic design applications like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and CorelDraw.
