Modeling is the process of creating objects with the use of different types of methods or approaches with the tools and commands given in 3Ds Max and I am sure that you learnt all this in your Autodesk 3Ds Max Coruse too here.
Types of Modeling in Autodesk 3Ds Max
There are so many different types of modeling and includes even more ways to work with these model types. There are many types of modeling but two from them are quite important and they are primitive and spline.
While other types of modeling are Patch, Nurbs, Surface etc.
I want to explain only primitive and spline here as these are most popular and favorite ways of all the modeler.
Primitive Modeling
Primitive models are the basic objects such as Cubes, Sphere and Pyramids. There are two divisions of these modeling objects: Standard and Extended primitives.
STANDARD PRIMITIVES
- BOX
- CYLINDER
- TORUS
- TEAPOT
- CONE
- SPHARE
- TUBE
- PYRAMID
- PLANE
- GEOSPHARE
EXTENDED PRIMITIVES
- HEDRA
- CHMAFER BOX
- OIL TANK
- GEOGON
- PRISM
- TORUS KNOT
- CHAMFER CYL
- CPSULE
- L-EXT
- C-EXT
- HOSE
First time when you make such types of models; you can edit these standard and extended objects in the editable poly. You can covert there objects into editable poly by click on the objects and then sub-menu from the pop up open or by right click on converted the editable poly. Once the objects converted into the editable poly you can modify the objects by using Vertex, Edge, Border, Polygon and many other elements. Poly editing is other type of modeling available in this category in 3Ds Max.
Spline Modeling
Spline is simple shape making such as Circle, Star, and Arcs. These shapes are renderable by using editable tool. You can also change the spline shape into editable tool. Select the shape by right click and convert into editable spline. All the shapes can be modified by the use of Vertex, Spline, and Elements. Spline modeling also useful for curve shape modeling with the use of two points control. There are further points which can change into editable points and use to make shape of basic models.
